Leno Lace Iridescent Wave Shawl

Weave a soft, lacy, drapey cotton shawl with ocean waves. This shawl combines two finger-manipulated lace weaves: leno lace to produce open-work mesh waves and Spanish lace to weave plain weave in between the wave motifs. The book explains how to combine the two lace weaves to create any large scale motif you want.

Suitable for rigid heddle looms and shaft looms. Lisa wove this shawl on a 25-inch-wide Schacht Flip rigid heddle loom. Fine mercerized cotton yarns in rainbow colors combine with 5/2 mercerized cotton in jade green to create an iridescent-looking fabric, but the shawl can be woven with a single yarn as well, as shown below.
